You'll definitely find God's plan for your life in this book!!!
By M. Y. Scott
This book was recommended to me by my LifePlan Facilitator, Zarat Boyd. After reading the 1st page, I began to cry b/c it was like Tom (the author) knew me personally! All the emotions that I'd been feeling for the past few weeks, he summed up in one page!
The more I read this book, the more I began to learn about my gifts, talents, needs, wants, true desires...and anything else I could think of that I wasn't really sure about. I not only discovered the real me, but I also discovered God's plan for my life and why He made me the way He made me...so many things about my personality now makes total sense!
So, if you're at a point in your life where you're thinking to yourself on a DAILY basis, "There has to be more to life than THIS," then I highly recommend this book to you and others. If you're truly tired of 'existing' and not 'living in your purpose', THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU! Or if you want to simply find your purpose in life, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU! You'll be AMAZED at what you find out about yourself and how you were created.

Live the life you were meant to live
By Tom B. Bandy
This is a very good book!! Tom Paterson does Life Plans for a lot of people, and has a lot of experience in challenging an individual to look deep inside. If you find some of the exercises intimidating at first, go ahead and read the WHOLE book, you will gain much from later chapters, and perhaps understand the concepts better. It's always good to do a self-review and update from time to time, and this book is a great tool for that.

OH DEAR! WHY ME?
By Salli
Someone on The Official Doors Website just asked me about the following quote which appears in Jacqueline Murray's forward of her book "Two Brothers."

The author claims Jim said the following: "The other person I wish to mention, that I have great admiration for is Salli Stevenson. I didn't know her well and it was purely platonic, but she is one of the rare ones who understood me. She was absolutely one of the smartest women I ever met. Salli, can explain me better than most."

After I stopped laughing because I know Jim would never say this, I became angry that Jacqueline Murray would use my name to validate her work without even asking me.

I interviewed Jim Morrison for Circus Magazine in October 1970. We became friends. The last time I spoke to him was in March 1971. Jim knew me very well. I knew him as well as Jim would let me. One of the things about being friends is sharing your lives, things that happened to you, your memories, feelings, ideas, hopes, dreams and nightmares. Jim and I were no different. We shared a lot with each other.

Jim almost never called me Salli. He liked my real name instead. He used my real name 99% of the time. You'd think if Jim really did talk to a medium and mention me, he'd want me to know it was really him, so he'd use the name he liked when he was alive instead of "Salli" to let me know it was really him, wouldn't you?

Obviously Jacqueline Murray didn't know any of this when she quoted "Jim Morrison" about me.

When I first heard of Murray, I checked her blog out. Everything I read about Jim, everything she had "Jim" saying, on her blog was readily available elsewhere. This was two years ago. I contacted one of the other psychics who promoted Murray on Murray's blog, so that I could check Murray out. I was told Murray was still so new in her mediumistic gift that she wasn't able to talk to anyone other than a few close friends. I persisted, got three email addresses and emailed her. Two of the addresses were unable to be delivered. Murray never responded to the one that was delivered. Instead she used my name to make this book seem more than what it is, a research project that uses a fictionalized character of a beyond the grave Jim to tell the story.

Murray has simply done what other authors who never met Jim have done. She has gathered her information from other books, magazines and interviews on The Doors and then given it a unique little twist, a "dead Jim" talking. Unfortunately some of what she attributes to Jim is inaccurate, just like what she said in the forward about the two of us.

Other authors have done a better and more accurate job. I'm also posting this review over on The Doors Board, just in case anyone wants to verify that I wrote this. - Salli Stevenson

Don't waist your time!
By Jamie Spencer
The worst book I have ever read about Morrison! Same old stories, only this time told through a psychic. Don't waist your money.

It's total B.S! Don't waste your time.
By J.O
This book is a complete scam! I have read the Michael Hutchence section of the book. Don't waste your money. It's published by AuthorHouse, this is a self-published work. Obviously no reputable publisher would touch it. I am totally open to the possibility of an afterlife or spirit world and that psychic phenomena does exist. I also don't mind a good biography. Why did I buy the book? Because I thought it might be a half decent holiday read. Don't buy this book.

I have been unable to find ANY information at all about the author except where to buy the book, which unfortunately is available in multiple places online. There's no picture of her, no website, no explanation about her amazing gift or how this world class psychic has managed to channel Jim Morrison, Michael Hutchence, Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain. Need any more alarm bells? I even contacted a collegue of her's who endorsed the book and he said he hasn't heard a word from her in 3 years. So the Author seems to have dropped off the face of the earth? How convenient.

It's very difficult to enjoy something that you're always questioning. The information `he' gives her is repetitive. She basically reiterates all the speculation that's already been printed about him. She paraphrased practically verbatim a paragraph from an INXS Documentary that their tour manager had said about him and put it in `his' words. `He' uses words an Australian would just never say like `hiney' and `jerk'. The list goes on. It's all absolute bull.

Quite a few psychics endorsed the book. I'm not saying all psychics are charlottens. These other people who had a few pages in the book gave a lot more of a coherent account than she did. But then they're not releasing 700 page books of channeled material from dead celebrities. She goes off on tangents repeatedly about how "he" would only use one channel (her) because she's so pure of heart and intention, how appalled spirits in the afterlife are by people who do mislead others by lying about connecting to spirit. How much more manipulative to the reader can you get. She writes quotes from The Bible, talking about the Kabbalah, trying to prove channeling is possible - all supposedly channelled directly from Michael. It's full on rammed down your throat. It gets really weird and a bit scary. Maybe these are things she believes are real and has researched herself, if that's the case then fine. Write a book about that. But using Michael Hutchence's readership to tell the world about it supposedly from his beautiful spirit. Really? Come on!

All I can say is she did her homework. I didn't know he had his own fragrance, was close fiends with Dodi Al Fayed, had his teeth fixed (still not sure about that one), was forgetting his lyrics on the last US tour, was a Doors fan - still don't think this is true, was a really good swimmer, recorded a Christmas song as a young boy. Of course all these things can be found and verified online.

Don't remember Michael Hutchence this way. It breaks my heart as to what this must do to his family. A Tale it certainly is. Pure fiction not fact. I wouldn't be surprised if she wrote all these five star reviews herself. I hope this review has saved you $35.

The question is, will Sig use the gun, and why?

From School Library Journal
Starred Review. Grade 7 Up—In 1910, in a lonely cabin 100 miles north of the Arctic circle, Sig Andersson sits alone with his father's body while his sister and stepmother go for help. A sled crossing on thin ice had proved foolhardy for Einar, an otherwise prudent man, and his son found him half-submerged in icy water, frozen to death. When a menacing stranger bangs on the door, claiming to be Einar Andersson's ex-business partner, Sig wrestles with the possibility that his father had cheated prospectors out of gold in his position as Assay Clerk. As Sig is held captive by the pistol-toting Gunther Wolff, the story flashes back, in short glimpses, to events leading up to this day. Sig relives the mystery surrounding the death of his beloved mother when he was very young and his father's lessons about God and respecting the power of a gun. The tension escalates as the teen calculates his chances of retrieving his father's hidden revolver or escaping from the bearlike intruder, all the while worrying about the return of his unsuspecting sister. The bleak setting and ominous circumstances will draw immediate comparisons to a Jack London tale, but in a more accessible, spare style. Reluctant readers will be riveted by the suspense and the short chapters. Scenes dealing with brutality or the harsh realities of death may not be for sensitive readers but the satisfying ending will dispel some of the gloomy tone. A great addition to survival/adventure collections.—Vicki Reutter, Cazenovia High School, NY

From Booklist
Sedgwick’s historical mystery, set in the Arctic Circle in 1899 and 1910, makes good use of the word chilling. Outside their remote Scandinavian village, Sig’s father dies of exposure after trying to rush home across a frozen lake. The reason for his carelessness becomes apparent to Sig when a hulking beast of a man arrives at their tiny shack with a Colt revolver, demanding his share of a stolen wealth of gold. But Sig has his own Colt hidden in the storeroom, and some very pressing questions. Who is this brute at the door? Is there really a hidden treasure? And, most importantly, can he bring himself to use that revolver to save himself and his family? As the claustrophobic tension in the Arctic cabin mounts, Sedgwick doles out bits of backstory set a decade earlier in the Alaska gold rush, and the climax reveals that there hasn’t been a single superfluous detail in the intricate, freezer-burn buildup. A carefully crafted story effectively rigidified by taut plotting and the crystalline atmospherics of its isolated setting. Grades 7-10. --Ian Chipman

A finely crafted tale of psychological suspense and survival
By J.Prather
When you look at all the authors out there currently writing young adult fiction, Marcus Sedgwick seems to operate on a different playing field than most of the rest. In Revolver, he has offered up a chilling tale of psychological suspense that left me breathless. His descriptions of the Artic Circle, the cold that forms ice crystals in your lungs, and the hard life of his characters as they struggle to make it on this frozen frontier fully transported me there. I was so into this story that when Sig looked out his cabin window and first saw Wolff standing outside, I gasped and felt the hair on the back of my neck stand up!

No words are wasted in this tale. Each phrase seems carefully crafted to convey tension and to bring the reader in. The revolver that serves as the focal point of the story is as much a character as the humans we get to know. Sig's battle with Wolff, and his struggle within himself to make what he deems to be the right choice is so achingly and beautifully portrayed that you find yourself wondering what your choices would be. This is a great book and an easy recommend for any fan of Gary Paulsen. Aside from all of the psychological elements, it's also a great survivalist story. This book simply has a lot to offer to both teens and adults. I will be recommending it often.

a taut historical thriller set in the Arctic Circle
By M. Tanenbaum
Originally published in London in 2009, Revolver combines two of my favorite genres: historical fiction and adventure/survival stories. Sedgwick is the author of ten previous novels for young people, most of which include gothic or paranormal elements. This psychological mystery/survival story, however, set in the forbidding world of the Arctic Circle, does not need any hints of vampires, ghosts, or witches to cast a spell on its readers. Once begun, the reader will have a hard time putting this book down.

The story alternates between Giron, an iron mining town, in 1910, and Nome in 1899, at the time of the Alaskan Gold Rush. What happened in Nome that has made 14-year old Sig's father be on the run for so many years? When Sig's father dies after a fall through the frigid ice, Sig and his sister are visited by an evil man, Gunther Wolff, who claims that he is owed half of their father's gold. They know nothing of any gold, and are terrified that this giant of a man will kill them both. An ancient Colt revolver--and ammunition--is hidden in the back of their cabin. Can Sig's resourcefulness--and the Colt revolver--possibly rescue them from this threat?

The author goes back and forth between Sig's terrifying encounter with this man whom he cannot remember and the time years before when the family lived in Nome. Sedgwick writes of Einar, the father: "He'd come for the gold, and he hadn't meant to stay. These things never lasted long, Einar knew." But when Einar is offered a job as an Assay Clerk, the government official who "does the testing and the weighing and the paying," the family settles into this harsh environment. That is, until tragedy strikes, after the arrival in Nome of the villainous miner Wolff.

There are several scenes in this book that suggest rape and murder; even though not described in graphic detail, these scenes make this book appropriate for a young adult audience but not recommended for younger children.

In the U.K. , Revolver has been short-listed for a number of prestigious prizes, including the Carnegie Medal, the Independent Booksellers Award, the UK Literacy Association Award, and the Northern Ireland Book Award, The book was also nominated for the Guardian Children's Book Prize.

This is the kind of fast-moving adventure story that would make a good recommendation for reluctant readers, particularly boys.

Revolver
By jack
My name is Jack and this is a book that we could choose from in our summer reading program .The title of this book is Revolver. I am definitely not a reader, but this book was surprisingly very good and interesting to me. This book starts of by giving you the bare facts that helps your understanding of the book. Sig and Anna, the main characters, are stuck in the middle of nowhere in the artic with the dead corpse of their father. A bear like man named Wolf who has been stalking and following their family for 10 years confronts Sig and Anna asking them for their father's gold. He holds them at gunpoint, but they have absolutely no idea what gold he is talking about. They must work together to escape this man and get to the gun that is held in the small wooden box.
This book will leave you with surprises, suspense and action throughout the whole book. Some examples of this are when they figure out that there father has stolen gold and been running from Wolf for years, and what Sig ends up doing with the revolver. The thing I enjoyed most about this book was the layout. There were so many different things going and they all end up coming together and making perfect sense in the end. Also, at the end of the chapters, you would be left hanging. This would make you want to read more and more. Some things I didn't really like about this book were the random flashbacks that would confuse you. This made it hard to figure out what was happening.
The main characters in this book were strong characters. The author really created interesting personalities for each of them. As an example, Wolf was mean, big, and obsessive about the money that he believed should be his.
After reading Revolver, I have some unanswered questions. What happened to Wolf at the end of the book? Who killed Anna and Sig's mother? There could be some improvements made to this book to help it read more smoothly. The author could have italicized the flashback parts to help the reader understand more clearly. There were some important quotes that were stated in this book. One of my favorites is "even the dead tell stories." This quote is very important because Sig's father said it before he died. This told Sig that he would learn something after his father died. The 2nd quote is "a gun is not a weapon, it's an answer." This is the most important quote because the gun is an answer to life when you have no one else to help you. The 3rd is "Never cross the lake once you have seen the hooded crow." The hooded crow only comes out when the weather is warming.
Overall I would rate this book a 4 out 5 stars. This book is a great choice for someone who is looking for a short and good book. I really enjoyed this book and I hope that this helps you. Thanks for reading my review of Revolver.

A LifeSaver for New Parents: How to Get Your Baby to Sleep Thru the Night
By Linda S Werner
We have 5 month old twins and were ragged from feeding them every few hours around the clock until a mom suggested this book. Great advice and age appropriate schedules to train your baby to sleep thru the night. I only wish we'd discovered it sooner!

Miracle worker!
By Kathleen M. Campbell
All my sisters recommended this book and at first I was skeptical....but as a brand new Mum all I can say is WOW....it works and don't hesitate. I followed the schedule and my baby girl was sleeping through the night within on week. (At 2 months of age). I am all for "demand feeding" at newborn age (the first 2 months) but beyond that I needed to get baby into a routine and encourage longer sleep patterns. The advice in this book was useful, straightforward and had lots of good examples/case studies to learn from. My baby is now 5 months old and sleeps from 7pm to 6am every night.....it is heaven!

An Excellent Resource for the new sleep-deprived parents!
By Olia L.
This is an excellent read, and resource for those of us, who've been sleep-deprived as a result of having our first, and sometimes second and third child. My husband and I read it, got on the same page, and it didn't take but a couple of weeks to get our baby to fall asleep without having to rock/hold her for hours at a time. It's amazing!
