4 1/2 star read! Awesome sequel to FINDING JORDIE!

Jordie and Nathan Harper are married, have a son together, are raising Jordie's daughter, Emma together, and after a harrowing experience with Jordie’s ex-husband, and Nathan losing his memory, they are finally together, happy, and starting a new life in a new place.

If only things stayed that simple, that contented, and safe but being married to a sexy movie star comes with its problems and one of them has become a huge pain in the ass for Jordie. An anonymous Internet stalker is determined to upset Jordie, her life with Nathan, and even put her family in danger. Then as if her life isn’t stressed enough, Nathan decides to share his journal from when he lost his memory. He wants her to know what was going through his mind and his heart during that time, but Jordie isn’t too sure she wants to know once she starts reading when she discovers entries mentioning the women in Nathan’s life, especially one who is currently making herself far too available to her husband.

FINDING NATHAN, a Jordan Spagnato novel by H.J. Harley is even more fast-paced, romantic, brimming with affection, tender moments, and definitely sexier than FINDING JORDIE – but then they’re married in this one! The sex is wilder, hotter, and certainly very spontaneous. The journals are interspersed throughout the story and will guarantee to bursts of emotion for both Jordie and Nathan as well as the reader.

If you read FINDING JORDIE then you’re going to thoroughly enjoy revisiting the wonderful characters you came to love in FINDING NATHAN. Frank, Rachel, and Emma are constants that keep Jordie and Nathan on their toes and keep the story real. Jordie is still as rough and tumble as she was when we first met her, motherhood hasn’t softened her attitude or her language but we wouldn't want her any other way. Nathan is still as sexy as before and he makes sure he shows Jordie often just how much he loves and desires her. But all of that aside, there’s the angst that travels through this story that keeps us turning the pages, worrying about Jordie, and whether or not Nathan’s world is going to leak into their happy world causing more harm than good. The suspense is definitely felt throughout the story and in the end, you’re going to be very surprised at the culprit.

H.J. Harley does an excellent job of using redirection to keep us guessing as to who is making life miserable for Jordie and why. Love a good suspense, and this one did it for me.

I highly recommend FINDING NATHAN by H.J. Harley most definitely to anyone who read FINDING JORDIE because this one brings you the answer to every question you had at the end of the first book, and treats you to life after a HEA for Jordie and Nathan. If by chance, you haven’t read FINDING JORDIE, I highly recommend it but honestly, FINDING NATHAN can hold its own as a stand-alone read but frankly, why would you want to miss how they met, fell in love, and came to marry. My suggestion to you is to read them both, and then get ready for the third Jordan Spagnato book that gets a tease at the end of this one. And the fun continues.

Great continuation to the Jordan Spagnato series.

This book the second in the Jordan Spagnato series and let me tell you,it just gets better and better! Finding Jordie is a MUST read before you start Finding Nathan. You need as much information as possible to appreciate the wonderful story telling this book provides.
This instalment is steamy,witty,funny as hell and takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions with the characters, you feel like you know them personally which just shows the cleverness of the writing.
I laughed out loud (a lot!)and cried buckets at the emotional moments,without giving anything away, one particular moment in Nathan's journal had me blubbering and I fell in love with him all over again,Jordie is one lucky biotch!
Ive thoroughly enjoyed my journey through this book and dare I say it ,but I cant wait for the next chapter in this great series. HJ, you rock!!

oh my Nathan...

H.J. Harley brings the suspense yet again, along with the sweet tender moments that made you fall in love with Jordie and Nathan, some new rather interesting characters, and amps up the sexy times tenfold! Finding Nathan takes us on another journey that hits you right in the heart as we watch Nathan rediscover who he is and expose himself to not only Jordie but us, the readers as well.

Nathan and Jordie are now married, raising Jordie's daughter and the new edition, their son together in a new place. In Finding Nathan, Jordie is at times insecure but it's expectant, which makes every emotion she felt warranted.

Through Nathan's journals we learn what all happened when him and Jordie were apart. It's eye opening, heart felt and even painful at moments. At times throughout the novel I found myself wishing that this story was in Nathan's POV, more so than I did while reading the first novel. But see, H.J. Harley gives her readers exactly what they need! She sells Nathan's feelings through his journal entries. She makes you feel everything this man felt as if he ripped his heart out and gave it to you. So eventually all the wishing turned into wanting to experience more of him rediscovering himself. Which in turn kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to immerse myself in him again.

One thing is for sure and that is, H.J. Harley will leave you wanting more and more!!! All in all, I really enjoyed this book and I am uber excited that the next in the series is Finding Rachel, can't wait to be inside that woman's thoughts!!

An interesting and important perspective on the modern American debate surrounding vaccination.

In Vaccine: The Debate in Modern America, Largent couples historical scholarship, keen cultural observations, and personal experiences in order to explore the American debate surrounding vaccination. Largent's engaging, provocative and compelling argument suggests that the debate about the science, safety and efficacy of vaccination is a proxy for a set of unaddressed underlying anxieties regarding vaccines; therefore, science is not enough to resolve it. The book sets out to explore these anxieties and understand where and how they originated. Largent's insightful observations provide ways in which the debate can be moved forward by addressing the anxieties parents have directly. Largent argues that by ignoring the underlying anxieties public health officials and vaccine advocates have misconstrued the reasons parents chose not to vaccinate or delay vaccination. Secondly, public health officials prefer to discuss the efficacy, and safety of vaccines because this is within their professional realm. Vaccine advocates often claim that ignorance is one of the reasons parents are anxious about vaccinating their children. They claim that this refusal to vaccinate is predicated by an ignorance of the severity of the diseases for which vaccines protect. Whereas, data demonstrates that the more educated parents are the more likely they are to have reservations about the recommended vaccine schedule. One of the most important observations made by Largent is that not all vaccines are the same thus recognizing that not all vaccines are equal could sooth the rhetoric of the debate and allow for a more fruitful discussion. Otherwise, parents who are anxious about the amount of vaccines or one specific vaccine may be pushed not to vaccinate at all. Failing to recognize the differences between different inoculations results in an all or nothing approach.L argent recognizes and emphasizes (throughout the book) that there is no evidence linking vaccines to autism or other ailments. The book also deals extensively and in a sympathetic manner with both Wakefield (who alleged that the MMR vaccine was link to autism) and Jenny McCarthy (who claims vaccines can cause autism). This sympathy is an important tool that historians need to employ in order to adequately portray the view of the historical actors they are writing about.

This book will be of interest to those interested in skepticism, science and its relation to public policy, public health, the vaccine debates, and the ever increasing complex relationship between science and society. Arguably it also provides a useful way to think and address contemporary debates regarding science and the public (the teaching of evolution; global climate change, etc).

In the decades before the Civil War, evangelical Protestantism provided the main impetus for opening the highest levels of American education to women. Between the Civil War and World War I, however, shifting theological beliefs, a growing cultural pluralism, and a new emphasis on university research led educators to reevaluate how colleges should inculcate an ethical outlook in students―just as the proportion of female collegians swelled.

In this environment, Turpin argues, educational leaders articulated a new moral vision for their institutions by positioning them within the new landscape of competing men's, women's, and coeducational colleges and universities. In place of fostering evangelical conversion, religiously liberal educators sought to foster in students a surprisingly more gendered ideal of character and service than had earlier evangelical educators. Because of this moral reorientation, the widespread entrance of women into higher education did not shift the social order in as egalitarian a direction as we might expect. Instead, college graduates―who formed a disproportionate number of the leaders and reformers of the Progressive Era―contributed to the creation of separate male and female cultures within Progressive Era public life and beyond.

Beautiful, just beautiful

WOW. Just WOW. I started this early this morning and read it in one sitting. I needed to finish it. My heart is in my stomach. My stomach is in my shoes. My nerves are shot. I’m a mess. At one point I had to put my kindle down and walk away to catch my breath. I was so upset. I live for angst filled books, and this definitely filled that requirement.

I have been in love with Brand for a while now. I wanted him to have a happily ever after. I really did. He was a sweet guy and he deserved it. But his heart was broken and he became hard and closed off. He thinks he’s no good to anyone. Everyone leaves him, so he feels unworthy. He lives with guilt, from a past that he can’t get away from. It’s always chasing him.

Nora is living with a controlling father and she is trying to break free. She keeps secrets that could cause more harm, if exposed. So she takes this on all by herself, even if it slowly takes pieces from her.

“People watching has always been a hobby. Watching other people’s lives distracts me from my own.”

An unexpected accident brings these two together and fate draws them closer.

At first, I wasn’t sure if I’d like Nora. She seemed a bit too forward to me. But after a while I realized she is just a girl who is going after something that will make her happy. And frankly, she desperately needs a bit of happy in her life. Her story was almost more than I could handle. My heart was in pieces over it.

“He made me feel safe in a world that is dangerous and ugly, a world that has only hurt me.”

I honestly don’t know how to put in words, what this book made me feel. Sadness, happiness, angst, overwhelming anger, heartbroken, disgust, content. By the end of this roller coaster ride, I was completely happy I climbed aboard. This is the fourth book in the Beautifully Broken series, but it can be read as a standalone. But you really should read them all. Courtney Cole is an amazing writer and believes in happily ever afters, so even if she drags you through the mud, you’ll get all cleaned up, by the end.

What can I say....this series just continues to get better and better as the books are published. Until We Fly is the fourth book in Unbeautifully Broken series and it was just as great or even a little greater then the first book. Courtney Cole's writing always amazes me. Her stories are captivating, engaging, and flawlessly told. Her stories just suck me in and don't let go. This book held on until the end....I actually read this book in less then a day. I didn't want to put it down and it didn't seem like I could read fast enough. This story had me smiling, laughing, swooning, panting, and at times utterly pissed and disgusted.( this is related to the tragedy that happened to Nora). This is why I gave this book 5 stars....I love when a book makes feel every emotion I can feel and also makes me feel like I'm a part if the characters lives.

We met Brand in the other books in this series because he has been a life long friend of Gabe (Book 2) and Jacey (Book 3). He has always been a secondary character that I have truly been in love with. I was beyond excited to find out he was getting his own book in this series. I just knew his story was going to be great. My heart broke for Brand in Until We Fly, I didn't realize just how broken this man really was. His childhood was so sad and the way his parents were towards him would've broken even the strongest of men. I don't want to say too much about the story because it would spoil things for the reader. Brand was totally a swoon worthy hero!!!! He would do just about anything to protect what is his, he even has it tattooed on his body. I truly can't express how great Brand is, you really need to meet him yourself. I liked Nora as a character. What she had to endure in her past….holy moly I can't even fathom how someone gets over that. I was glad to see her character get stronger and start standing up for herself as the story went on.

As for secondary characters….this book really didn't have any that stood out for me. I was glad we got to see a little bit of Jacey again and a little of Gabe, but this book really did focus on Brand and Nora.

I am just going to end this review with…..READ THIS BOOK NOW!!!! Each of the books in this series can be read as a standalone, they are all different stories with a different couple that is the focus. There is only a little bit of character overlay. I would suggest reading the WHOLE series though, because book is FANTASTIC in it's own right!!!!

love this series and Courtney Cole has not disappointed

love this series and Courtney Cole has not disappointed. Each book in this series in unique and a different story front he last. I must say out of all the book, this one was very emotional and had me in tears in time. And then at one point I swear if I had socks on they would haver been knocked right off. This book kept me on my toes the entire time.

Brand Killien is home for a family emergency, while he is there, he can't help but be a stand up guy and help out in a different emergency situation. Helping others has landed Brand in the hospital and in need of his own nurse/helper. Since Brand is always the one who is helping others, it feels weird now that the shoe is on the other foot.

Nora Greene is the girl he saved when her life was in danger. Now that she has healed, she has made it her mission to take care of Brand. It doesn't hurt she had a crush on him when she was young. Nora has fully moved in and has decided to make sure Brand gets better.

The relationship that blooms between Nora and Brand is fantastic and electric! I You could feel it through the pages.

But like many other couples, Nora is hiding secrets. Secrets so big, it will leave yo shocked and maybe a little sick. It will blow your mind what she is dealing with. Even up until the end I could not believe it.

Courtney Cole has someone how managed to write a book that will keep you guessing until the very last chapter.

On a different note. I loved Brand in the other books and it is once to see him get the girl for once. He deserves happiness. Putting other's first has left him with little time for taking care of his own happiness. Now Brand can be happy!!

Certainly anyone interested in landscape architecture should have this work, but anyone interested in design could benefit greatly from better understanding the concepts and applications covered.

A true masterpiece...Impressive.... Booth has produced an exceptionally important book that effectively describes design principles from the most fundamental stages of the design process. With a multitude of example drawings, one is able to truly assimilate what's being presented. Highly readable, it is distinguished by its ability to describe and evoke landscape design principles in vivid detail. I would categorize it as one of the most important books I own. Again, Impressive!

If you like thinking about the theory and application of form design, this is a great book in my opinion. In depth consideration of how to use line, diagonal, circle, square, triangle, and so forth in landscape designing. Set forth clearly in the text and reinforced with graphic diagrams and examples of application in prominent landscape designs.

About the Author

true faith is not completely reliant on logic

The value of this work is that it correctly argues that faith is ultimately a choice that cannot be completely supported by logic or rational proof. It was Kierkegaard's experience of losing the chance to be with the person he loved that forced him to confront the absurd nature of faith. Although believers in many religions will argue that their faith is logical and rational, Kierkegaard fully grasped that if conviction is based fully on logic, it does not need faith to support it.

Perhaps the best metaphor can be found in the New Testament passage where Christ invites Peter to walk on water -- Peter takes a step with faith and does not sink, but then looks down, and begins to evaluate the situation using his rational mind, and begins to sink. True faith walks on water. Only true faith could be sufficient to base a life on the conviction that a dead guy in Jerusalem 2,000 years ago came back from the dead and has his own kingdom where his followers will live forever in eternal bliss. On the other hand, this conviction has become so entrenched in the popular culture of the last 2,000 years that it has just become an unremarkable backdrop to the modern world and is considered a socially acceptable belief.

The challenge for a modern christian is to find true faith when they mistakenly believe that the story of Jesus Christ is completely supported by logic and rational thinking. The mere act of mentally assenting to what has been accepted in popular culture, a broad and shallow idea that God and Jesus exist, is not faith at all; just an unexamined conclusion of a lazy mind that has not yet questioned its own surroundings. True faith is a radical departure from the status quo, a renewal of personal conviction despite all contradictions and a recognition of UNCERTAINTY. Without a recognition of uncertainty, faith has no meaning. The strength of true faith is that it acknowledges that uncertainty exists, and yet still forges on in spite of the uncertainty, willingly accepting and embracing the consequences of conviction in the face of uncertainty. There is not fear that the conviction may be misled and flinching because of the uncertainty, there is a recognition that this lack of absolute rational proof and certainty is what gives faith its supreme virtue. This is what makes faith courageous and is something that only mortal humans can do, since angels are blessed with absolute knowledge whereas humans are blessed with uncertainty, which is the only way that true freedom can exist. Without this freedom, the choice of "faith" would not be possible, would not be courageous, and would not make mortals eligible for the reward of heaven.

The believer who claims that all faith is logical has not yet come to the moment of testing, like Abraham, like Kierkegaard, where the object of the soul's deepest longing and only happiness is seen, but yet out of reach. For Kierkegaard it was the girl he loved, that he could never be with, but yet he retained hope and transformed that hope into a lifetime of faith. The personal pain of such an experience leads a person to exclaim "it doesn't make sense!" Only when one reaches the point where it just doesn't make sense can the ultimate nature of real and profound faith be experienced and put into action. Anything else is a shallow beginning, and not yet a sufficient faith to walk on water, just as Peter found when he was invited to take that step...

This book is full of such profound insight because Kierkegaard understood this and knew that faith was not a shallow, cheap or easy achievement:

"In those old days it was different. For then faith was a task for a whole lifetime, not a skill thought to be acquired in either days or weeks. When the old campaigner approached the end, had fought the good fight, and kept his faith, his heart was still young enough not to have forgotten the fear and trembling that disciplined his youth...." (p.42)

Makes a philosopher weak in the knees

FEAR AND TREMBLING stands as one of Soren Kierkegaard's most widely read works. It's brevity is appealing to those with only a marginal interest in philosophy and theology. It's subject matter is what attracts those persons who want to find a nexus between ethics and theology.
In the work, Kierkegaard engages the famous passage in the Old Testament of the bible where Abraham is ordered by God (Yahweh) to sacrifice his son, Isaac. It stands today as the most salient episode in the bible where Plato's EUTHYPHRO dillema is confronted.
Now, what is the EUTHYPHRO dillema, you may ask? The dillema is set out by Socrates in Plato's dialouge of the same name. Basically, it comes down to this: are good and evil intrinsic to the universe itself? Or are the qualities of good and evil decided upon by God (or gods)? If the former is true, then God (or the head of a pantheon of gods) cannot be truly omnipotent, for there is at least one power that even he / she / it must follow. If, on the other hand, good and evil are decided by God(s), then might makes right.
Enter Kierkegaard, who spends the pages of this work acting more-or-less as a defense attorney for Abraham for his even contemplating the murder of his son. For Kierkegaard, the divine-command-theorist, the latter horn of the conundrum (i.e.: might makes right) is the only plausible alternative open for the religious believer. The first horn denies God's sovereign omnipotence over the universe and all of its affairs, which is utterly unacceptable.
So, the Dane offers to us the defense of what he calls the "teleological suspension of ethics." That is to say, while Abraham was acting out of direction from God, he was not subject to the ethical laws of the "everyday" universe that the rest of us live in every day.
That, in brief, is the topic that this book considers. For the complete explanation and polemics of his views, this book is highly recommended. That the subject matter of FEAR AND TREMBLING greatly disturbed Kierkegaard becomes readily obvious in the first pages. If the arguments presented are examined carefully, it is a topic whose implications may very well shock the modern-day theologian as well.

Johannes de silentio is anything but

The ironic pen-name Kierkegaard uses should be more than enough warning that things aren't necessarily what they seem, so if anyone tells you what this book is about, or what Kierkegaard intended, I suggest you take it with a grain of salt, read this book, and decide for yourself.
Students of Kierkegaard will tell you the meaning of this book in terms of his personal life; philosophers will show you its philosophical meaning; the religious will describe it as a treatise on faith. It is probably all of these, and may be even more. The work centers on the exemplary life of Abraham, in particular the story in which he is asked by God to sacrifice his beloved son Isaac - the son given to him as fulfillment of a promise by God himself. This story is fully worthy of the "fear and trembling" the title expects, but it also serves as an archetypal example of faith itself, in uncompromising terms.
It is also a counter-argument against the (in Kierkegaard's view) stifling moral rationalism of Hegel - an argument "on the strength of the absurd" which is nonetheless compelling, even if one were to ultimately reject it. Considering this, it is perhaps fitting that his work - certainly grave and severe - ultimately provides an affirmation of individual self-determination and a wholehearted engagement with the real world and its affairs... a faith which Kierkegaard professed himself incapable of.
Worth the time of reading once or several times. Poetic, but not lighthearted entertainment - then again, who would read a book titled "Fear and Trembling" on a lark?
