The book is short, simple, concise, and yet comprehensive. The author does a great job of getting to the point, the whole point, and prioritizing whats really important. No one enjoys re-working their resume, and this product made this process as painless as possible.

This would be a perfect gift for a new college grad, or to restore your own sanity... Do yourself a favor, buy, read, and use this book!!!

Awesome quick reference for resume builders!

I absolutely love that this book is packed with quick references and answers questions that have long since been in debate in the world of resume writing. I have used this book to assist coworkers and friends with constructing or improving their resumes and found the advice contained therein to be both valuable and concise. I have never seen a resume book that advises to add in a "branding statement," but that was an awesome little tidbit that added the perfect personal touch. I assisted my boss with his resume for a corporate leadership "grooming" interview and the quote he chose for his branding statement was brought up by both the executives that interviewed him - they loved it! Denbigh really directs you on how to sell yourself and your skills, and the personal touches get your resume noticed instead of tossed into the recycle bin. My only thought is let your resume take the cake - you'll make a fantastic one using the easily accessible advice in this book, but allow your cover letter to enhance, not overshadow, your resume.

Although this book won't help in writing a resume in 20 minutes, you definitely can read it in 20 minutes and it contains all the information you need before writing a GOOD CV.

The writer absolutely followed his own advice of being clear, short and effective when trying to promote yourself. He did with the book, and after understanding the content you surely can yourself, too - with writing a first class resume.

Not even a minute is wasted from that 20 minutes I spent with reading this. Well worth the price!

Very helpful work book

I bought this work book to continue to heal from a childhood with 2 abusive alcoholics. I was having flashbacks and panic attacks and wanted to get past my past. I'm not even half way through the book, but have found it to be very helpful so far. After years of being blamed for everything, I finally learned I was not at fault! That alone was worth the price of the book. It was like a weight was lifted off of me. I'm sure I had heard it before, but after realizing just how damaged and dysfunctional my parents-and my family-were and are, I finally believed it. I would highly recommend this book to anyone struggling with issues from their childhood.

Suggested by my new therapist. As he put it, "Don't judge a book by its cover could not be accurate about this book." I've had homework before from therapists, but this is deep. This requires the kind of introspection that really will promote healthy emotional living. I highly recommend for those who are willing to really see into their own psyches and issues in order to make meaningful changes.

Slow-healing COMPANION workbook

I, as usual, had looked for a quick fix, meaning I bought the workbook without the original book (or ever having read it). Years ago I was skeptical about this "weird" child within stuff. Now I am convinced it is the key to my happiness & recovery that I start listening & paying attention! I have finished the 1st 2 chapters & I must say I learned more in those 2 chapters of this ONE workbook than in all other workbooks I've already completed! And I just started!!! Within the 1st 2 chapters you'll be amazed at how much your life is ruled by FEAR! Of everything! I was amazed at how much I "knew" but didn't KNOW until I was asked directly--then bing! Lights went on & my jaw dropped. No wonder I'm making myself miserable!!!
I am a bit disappointed that the author recommends stretching this book out over 18 MONTHS, or even 5 years! Yikes! I can't wait that long to feel good about me. :( I'll work it quicker because I've been through 12 step programs, therapy, support groups, even earned a Bachelors in Psychology trying to fix myself & my family--or understand it all. None of that helped as much as those 1st two chapters of this book--so far! It will take me weeks just to journal what the author brought up from within my depths, previously UN-touched by therapy, psyche degree, AA & Alanon--then I can hopefully go on to chapter 3...He's right, this may take awhile & I AM WORTH IT, as are YOU.
Still, I put it down mainly to order the original book, Healing the Child Within, so I can read it before picking the workbook up again. I suggest you get the original book first.
The best part is, my husband & I were facing separation & divorce (I devoured "Should I Stay or Should I Go;How Controlled Separation can Save Your Marriage" that's how close we are)--now he wants his OWN workbook! He's finally willing to face his past which was crippling us as much as my past was making me try to fix him while ignoring my own issues. I have been diagnosed several times starting at age 12, with PTSD from the severe traumatic child abuse, torture, sexual violence (the rapes started at age 4 & the last one was 2 years ago, I'm 37), it's a very sad story but real & my mistake was thinking I could heal all of that on one round of therapy a few years ago. I hated finding myself right back here again, still sick & hurting (literally ill with so many diseases, pain disorders & such I lost count), still in crappy relationships that abuse and hurt me while I keep trying to take control & responsibility for everyone else--but me.
After only 2 chapters I know this book is where I need to be (and wish I'd found years ago!) and if it takes a little time, the journey is well worth it with such a worthy companion as this set of books. BTW, I'm still trying to find LIVE support for this, they have AA and Alanon, which I don't fit, and I can't find CoDa or ACOA anywhere in southern Maine (if in Maine at all). I know from experience it takes more than working in isolation to heal the open wounds this book will deal with. Feel free to email me if you too are on that journey, maybe we could start one of our own. :)

He wound up retiring as Captain on the Boeing 747-400 ... and since then has spent his time trying to tell the kids about just how to do it. Good book for learning to operate the 747-400.

The book has little information on aircraft systems. If you need that for your oral, this is the wrong book.

But, if you want to know who to run the FMS and the airplane, this is a great book. Well-written. Easy to understand and follow.

At $49.95, it's a bit pricey. But, I suppose that's to be expected for a book with a limited market.

If you want a good book for self-study or end-of-year review

This book may be adequate for someone who has the material down cold and wants a simple review. However, DO NOT use it as a primary source for self-study. It lacks many concepts and terms needed for the actual exam, not to mention the book itself has no practice questions or free-response practice. If you want a good book for self-study or end-of-year review, go with Princeton Review or Barron's (< only if you have a lot of time). This book will help you get 3, 4 at the very most if you're lucky.

Used the AP crash course to self-study for the AP Exam. Overall great book and gives you almost everything you need to know. With this book, I got a 4 on the AP Psych exam and felt more confident than most students taking the APPSY test with me,

Balance Is The Key

Balance is key to both a healthy body and a happy life. That balance can be attained by studying the chinese five element theory, the characteristics of foods and simple massage and accupressure techniques.

Dr. Stephen Chang outlines the basics in an easily understandable manner. There are diagrams of the exercises, really simple massage techniques and the accupressure points. He includes his dietary plan with a fairly large selection of recipes.

I applaud his approach to diet. Exclusionary diets are almost certainly designed to fail. His position that even small quantities of junk food are good because they stimulate the liver makes sense. The internal organ massage exerices are amazing and effiective. I use the stomach massage for any digestive upset and thrilled with the results. The exercises are quite simple and take very little time.

However there are some points that I am not totally sold on. He advocates a strict adherence to a three meal a day plan with no snacks or none of the little mini meals that are so popular today. He insists that if you stick tojust the three meals a day, you will lose weight. My experience has been to the contrary. I am one of the many who are ravenous at three and find a healthy snack at that time staves off later overeating or binges.

He also limits the amount of water one is to drink to six cups a day. He claims that excess water leads to cellulite and excess weight. Prevailing thought is that excess water cannot hurt you; it is just excreted. Dehydration is the current hobgoblin of contemporary health concerns. Again,I think that balance is key and limitation is as hazardous as excess.

This is an interesting book,nicely written with some excellent points. It is a good introduction taoist theory and the internal organ exercises are well worth the purchase price price.

It was advertised on the website that it was a book AND four CDs. I only received the four CDs. Thank you for that, because now I don't have money to afford a new text book and I have to borrow someone elses and xerox my homework twice a week. Awesome.
